Jacqui and Bridie were England’s first female folk duo and they also started the folk club up 50 years ago in Liverpool. Bridie passed away a number of years ago and Jacqui retired the Folk Club in 2011 with a final concert at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. After going along to one of the last ever folk clubs to take photographs for the finale concert’s brochure, I went back to the penultimate event in the Cricket Club in Sefton park and shot some footage. After that, I decided to use the footage to make a short film which has now been edited down to a two part affair, with the second part being the finale concert at The Phil with footage courtesy of the RLPS and that will be online later ono in the week. This film was edited by Brainface. This half of the film also features on the DVD, which has just come out, of the full retirement concert and that’s available to buy over at Jacqui’s own site.
