This track was shot way back in March in Austin, Texas during SXSW and it features Manchesters’s finest The Travelling Band playing ‘Hindsight’, a track from their recent album ‘Screaming is Something’ and I’ve got to say this was one of our more difficult shoots. Apart from it being shot in a partially dried up river bed on the last morning of SXSW in 80 odd degrees of heat, when bodies were frail from days of playing and partying, we also had a snake wandering around the rocks keeping an eye on us, the wind was up trying to hamper the sound, there was constantly changing light and a hornet which buried it’s sting into my left arm just before we started filming! As the saying goes, don’t mess with Texas! Luckily we had a band who played to perfection, Chloe McCarrick who played second camera and saved my day with antihistamine and a great bit of editing by Brainface!
Next up on Routes Jukebox will be a relatively long player in our terms as we head backwards into a bit of old school folk with a short film about Jacqui & Bridie and then after that will be more acoustic performances from Netherton and Nashville!
